Our Support

The Jasmine Foundation aims to support the research and awareness of mental health in young people and prevention of suicide. We use creativity as a catalyst for mental wellbeing and hope our support will help young people and families to develop life skills and resilience.

Recent INITIATIVES include

  • While mental health problems can affect us at any stage of our lives, there is a higher risk of, and rapid increase in, mental health difficulties during early adolescence (10-14 years). Our vision is that young people transitioning from primary to secondary school will receive a rucksack containing items that research has identified as beneficial for adolescent’s mental health and wellbeing. • The Edinburgh International Book Festival brings leading and emerging international, British and Scottish authors and thinkers together to inspire each other and audiences in an extensive programme of public events. This year we are supporting an event with Professor Stella Chan and Dr Alison Harper, clinical psychologists specialising in adolescent health, considering how to best support young people’s well-being, drawing on the words and writing of our daughter Jasmine. • Outward Bound inspires young people to believe they can achieve more than they ever thought possible, breaking down barriers and unlocking opportunities for those who need it most. We recently supported a group residential trip to Loch Eil, providing the young people in attendance with a resilience toolkit.

  • The internationally celebrated Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) is made up of a unique collection of talented musicians who inspire and connect with people of all ages. The SCO makes a significant contribution to Scottish life both on the concert platform and beyond, working in schools, universities, hospitals, care homes and community centres through its award-winning Creative Learning programme. We support cellist Eric de Wit's chair in the SCO.

  • The Super Power Agency is a Scottish Charity working with Scotland’s most disadvantaged and under-resourced young people to make learning fun. They encourage pupils to put pen to paper, build their writing skills and express themselves with confidence. Our co-founder Sarah Macquaker has volunteered with The Superpower Agency on a number of projects.
